Do I have to be a registered user in order to
use the forum?
You can view posts in the forum as a guest, but in order to
post questions in the forum, you must be registered user. [top]
How do I register for the forum?
To register, click the link/image that says "Register."
You will be taken to a screen where you can select your desired
user name (i.e. name that will be displayed in the forum), enter
a valid email address (passwords have no restrictions, but it is
recommended that you type at least 6 characters, using a combination
of characters and numbers), choose a password and reenter the password.
Both password fields must be the same, simply as a check that you
typed it correctly. You should then review the forum "Terms
and Conditions of Service" and select either "I agree"
or "I do not agree" before clicking the "Register
button.
Note: If you slect "I do not agree" you will not
be a registered user of the forum and you will not be able to post
questions.
If your desired user name is available, you can then proceed to
login! [top]
How do I login to the forum?
After your initial registration, you will be taken to the forum
login. If you are returning to the site/forum, you can click the
"Login" image/link on the forum menu. If it says "Logout"
you are already logged in. This can happen if you've already logged
in before and chosen to have the forum remember who you are which
places a cookie on your system. Once you choose "Login"
you will be prompted for your user name and password. If the combination
is correct you will be allowed to navigate the forum as a user,
rather than as a guest.
Note: If you share a workstation/computer with someone else,
or others have access to your computer, we strongly recommend that
you "Logout" of the forum when you are finished. This
will prevent someone else from posting messages/questions in the
forum with your username. [top]
What happens if I forget my password?
If you're trying to login to the forum but you forget your password
or have lost it, you can retrieve it using the lost password tool.
On the login screen, next to the username field, it says "Forgot
password?" Click this to be taken to the "Forgot password"
form. Enter your username on this screen and press the Send button.
Your password will be sent to the email address registered to that
username. [top]
What is a profile?
A profile tells people about you. You can have your name,
age, gender, instant messenger information, personal avatar/image,
and more! Information entered into your profile is viewable by other
registered users. Guests cannot view your profile.

Clicking "Post" will post your question to the forum in
the selected subject category.

What is an instant message?
An instant message is a self-contained, highly private e-mail
system used within the forum. An instant message is a way
that you can communicate with another registered user while you
are both online. Instant messaging provides instantaneous delivery
to the recipient's private forum mailbox. The mail is sent and received
entirely through the forum, so neither you nor the recipient have
to open another program or leave the forum. Instant messaging also
gives both the sender and recipient greater privacy: No one's real
e-mail address is revealed. Instant Messages show only the handle
and name of both parties.
If a recipient isn't online, instant messages wait in the member's
IM box until the next time s/he logs in and manually reads and/or
deletes them. [top]
